Multi skimmer

The  Multi Skimmer  is a flexible high

capacity free-floating skimmer, which is designed with

interchangeable brush wheel, disc bank, and drum modules

in a triangular configuration. The Multi Skimmer   can be equipped with

three of each type of skimmer units or with a combination of

all three. The Multi Skimmer   works equally well for near shore, shallow

water skimming as for open sea operations.

Surface water and oil are drawn into the skimmer by the

downward rotation of the skimming devices so oil adheres to

the oleophilic surfaces, is separated and scraped into the

collection sump. The Multi Skimmer   recovery modules offer optimum

efficiency in all oil types, including diesel, fresh crude, high

viscosity bunker oil and emulsions, and collect virtually no

free water. The brush modules are offered as standard and

offer the highest recovery capacity.

Each brush wheel has a maximum skimming capacity of

50m³/h according to Bureau Veritas tests; therefore the total

skimming capacity becomes 150m³/h. This is very much

related to the oil thickness and the final recovery capacity is

dependant upon the pumping capacity available. The Multi Skimmer 

can also be fitted with disc banks or drum modules for

recovery of light to medium oils, but the capacity of these is

significantly less than that of the brush modules. The Multi Skimmer   is

supplied with a transfer pump, depending upon

requirements, from the Saftrol range of Archimedes pumps.

This pump can be easily removed from the skimmer head

and then used for salvage, offloading and other transfer

duties.
